The much anticipated and critically acclaimed major label debut by New York City’s Interpol has debuted at #5 on this week's Canadian Soundscan chart and at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 chart; their highest debut in both countries to date. The band’s third album and first for Capitol Records/EMI scored an astounding 15 top 20 chart positions around the world including two #1 album entries in Ireland & Mexico, #2 in the UK, top 5 in Canada, the U.S., Belgium, & Holland. The album also landed at #3 on the Canadian digital chart and #2 on the U.S. digital chart.
Since kicking off their global assault with Canadian warm-up dates, followed by the Coachella festival, the enigmatic band has been making mainstage festival appearances and fan friendly club shows around the world which culminated last week in a sold-out performance in the UK and an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman where they performed their current single, "The Heinrich Maneuver." The single is top 10 this week at Modern Rock Radio in Canada according to BDS and the unique video is getting play on both MuchMusic and MusiquePlus.
